I have a question about some stocks I purchased a few years ago that are no longer held in your recommendations, VSLR, which I got into at about $4.25 and today is now about $12, and AUY, which I got in at about 2.75 and is now $4.37 now. I’m assuming you recommend holding the AUY, but not sure about VSLR. Recommendations?
Those were never picks I made. Neither is fundamentally sound enough to have made it as one of my picks…but…someone after me may have made those picks.
The UWR and AP picks that I made are updated here: https://logicalinvestor.net/members-only/updated-target-resistance-levels-for-former-uwr-ap-portfolio-positions/
AUY wouldn’t have made the cut because it’s too weak fundamentally and we’d lean towards stronger picks, fundamentally. For instance, their cash is way too low. https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AUY/key-statistics?p=AUY
Now, it can still go up because metals are rising. But just know, it would never make it into our portfolio because its not fundamentally as strong as some others that we’ve been in. Formerly, we were in ABX (now GOLD) and NEM, which were both far stronger, fundamentally.
VSLR is a money-losing company and we don’t invest in those when there are money-making companies to invest in. https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/VSLR/key-statistics?p=VSLR
Also, their cash is too low. So…it doesn’t mean the stock can’t rise. It means that it’s high risk because its fundamentally weak. So we’d not ever pick that stock in that condition. Hope this helps.
Oh, yeah, it was whoever came after you. Thanks for reminding me of that.
No prob. Yeah, those that came after me seemed to follow the “sexy story” concept rather than the “fundamentally strong companies at cheap prices” concept.
That was definitely a confusing time! Very happy to be here, considering where you were then Sean.
Yep, something I definitely couldn’t help since everything was in Newsmax’s control and not mine. I never felt like any of those changes were good for subscribers. I felt they were only thinking about Newsmax’s internal costs.
But…I appreciate my time there and the opportunity that they gave me there. But the abrupt way they made a number of us editors leave all of the sudden, without notice and the effect that had on the subscriber base….was not well thought out, on their part (in my opinion). It’s why I’m glad I’m finally on my own, here, with no middle-man publisher in between us.
