Pretty much all major brokers will end up increasing the margin requirements to attempt to lower the overall risks to the brokerage firm. Happens in most every market topping period but especially in bubble periods. Yep, it’s one reason why we don’t trade on margin. It allows us to sell when we say sell rather than giving our broker the opportunity to sell whenever they want out of our account. It’s the downside of borrowing on margin from a broker.
